【Report】 July 11, 2016 Multilingual Playgroup / 7月11日（月）多言語子育てひろばを開催しました
On Monday, July 11, 2016, Jafore’s Multilingual Playgroup was held at Hokkori Heart Demachi.
40 people from China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Australia, and Japan participated in the event where we enjoyed chatting and information exchange.
To start off the event, we sang “Hello to All the Children of the World,” a song that includes the word “hello” in 9 different languages.
Following that, we introduced this month’s topic – “Kyoto festivals throughout the year”. After introducing the Aoi Matsuri (May), Gion Matsuri (July), and Jidai Matsuri (December) among others, we went over July 17’s parade route and schedule for the the Gion Matsuri which is being held this month.
After that, we learned number-counting in both Taiwanese and Chinese. A study abroad graduate student from Taiwan taught us how to count from 1 through 10. We thought Taiwanese and Chinese would be the same, but actually in Taiwanese, 4 and 5 are somewhat similar to Japanese because Taiwanese was influenced by the Japanese language during the Japanese colonization period in the 20th century.
Then during the story time, a graduate student volunteer from Doshisha University, read a book titled “Moko Moko Moko,” written by Syuntaro Tanikawa, as he compared between the Japanese and the Chinese versions. We were really excited to learn Chinese mimetic words because they were so interesting.
The next Multilingual Playgroup will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016, from 10:30 at Hokkori Heart Demachi. Note there is no playgroup scheduled for the month of August. We look forward to seeing you again!

2016年7月11日月曜日、「多言語子育てひろば」を開催しました。
中国、台湾、オーストラリア、インドネシア、日本から40名の参加者が来てくださいました。
まずはじめに、9か国語で「こんにちは」が入っている歌を歌いました。
次に、今回のテーマ「一年間の京都のお祭り」について紹介しました。5月の葵祭、7月の祇園祭、10月の時代祭など様々なお祭りのことを紹介した後、特に今月開催されている祇園祭、前祭り（17日）の巡行ルートと時間を確認しました。
今回の数かぞえは台湾語と中国語両方でした。台湾からの留学生で、大学院生の女性に、1から10までの数字の数え方を教えてもらいました。台湾語と中国語は同じかと思いきや、日本が20世紀に植民地支配をしていた影響で、4や5は日本語と少し似た言い回しがありました。
絵本の時間には、同志社大学大学院の学生で、絵本を勉強している学生の方に、「もこもこもこ（谷川俊太郎著）」という絵本を中国語・日本語両方比較しながら読んでいただきました。中国語の擬態語が面白く、大人もこどもたちも読み聞かせに引き込まれていきました。
次回の「多言語子育てひろば」は2016年9月11日（月）の10時半から、ほっこりはあと出町にて開催します。8月分の開催はありませんのでご注意ください。お会いできますことを楽しみにしております！
