Multilingual Playgroup Report (July 9, 2012) / 7月9日多言語子育てひろばを開催しました
32 people from Indonesia, China, the U.S. and Japan participated.
We did….
*Free play time*Singing time "Hello to All the Children of the World"
*Free talk
*Counting from one to ten in Amharic
*Story time: 2 short stories in Chinese and "Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" in English.
We start our program with singing the song "Hello to all the children of the world". If you learn to sing this song, you'll be able to say "Hello" in 9 languages.
While children played with friends and toys, mothers enjoyed talking with other participants and sharing information. Children's books in various languages were displayed on the Tatami mattress, illustrations of Yokai (Japanese traditional monsters) were hanging on the shoji sliding doors. (Yokai is a word which refers to "monster", "ghost", "fairy", "demon", etc.)
We learned how to count one to ten in Amharic, an Ethiopian language. One of our guests read two short stories in Chinese, another guest played the Ukulele and read "Five little monkeys jumping on the bed" in English.
There's no gathering in August. The next multilingual playgroup is on Monday, September 10th.

2012年7月9日、ほっこりはあと出町で「多言語子育てひろば」が開催されました。参加者は32名、アメリカ、インドネシア、中国、日本のご家族が集まりました。
はじまりはいつものテーマソング、「Hello to all the Children of the World」をみんなで歌いました。歌詞に9言語での「こんにちは」が入っています。
今回、情報交換のテーマは設けませんでしたが、色々な言語で書かれた絵本を展示したので、「○○語はあるかな?」などと言いながら、絵本をぺらぺらとめくってみたりして、それぞれにおしゃべりを楽しみました。
日本の妖怪についてイラストで紹介したコーナーもありました。「妖怪」は日本独自のもので、例えば英語でMonster（化け物）、 Ghost（霊）、 fairy（精霊）、 Demon（鬼） など、いろい ろないい方をするものを包括して呼ぶいい方なので、外国語でも"Yokai"と呼ばれることが多いようです。
また今日「ひろば」に立ち寄ってくれた、中国系アメリカ人の旅人が、ウクレレ演奏をして盛り上がっているグループもありました。
情報交換がひと段落した後で、アムハラ語（エチオピアの公用語）で、1から10までの数え方を教わりました。そして今回の絵本の時間は、絵本がたくさんあるということで、中国人参加者の方に中国語での「ゾウさんの鼻はどんなときに役に立つの?」と言う内容のお話と、くまさんのかわいらしいお話の二つを読んでいただきました。さらにアメリカ人ゲストの方に"Five monkeys jumping on the bed"の お話をノリノリで読んで（歌い踊って?）いただきました。
8月は夏休みで「ひろば」はありません。次回のひろばは9月10日(月)です。皆さん、よい夏休みを!
